TÜV Rheinland and Functional Safety
Functional Safety (FS) is the safeguard against hazards resulting from faulty and interrupted functionality. More and more safety-related control systems are being used primarily in the manufacturing and process industries as well as in the railway, automotive and medical industries with the aim of reducing the risk of hazards.
Safety must be ensured under normal and/or undisturbed conditions and maintained in case of abnormal conditions, requiring products to be designed in such a way that fault, failures and external influences do not result in cases of undetected loss of safety.
TÜV Rheinland provides functional safety services based on international standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, ISO 26262. Serving the full spectrum of industrial sectors, we offer certifications, risk assessments, system auditing and more.
In addition, TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Training Program is the only worldwide extended vocational training program in the area of Functional Safety where knowledge and competencies are approved of by a third neutral party and where certificates are issued.
TÜV Rheinland Singapore on Safety Assurance for Process Industry (Functional Safety included)
TÜV Rheinland Singapore is an accredited Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) consultant by National Environmental Agency (NEA), with a dedicated team on Safety Assurance for Process Industry. We are able to support all aspects of safety case development, including co-ordination, planning, preparation and technical support, with technical expertise in the fields of QRA, HAZOP, ERP, PSM, Functional Safety (IEC 61511 and IEC 61508), Exposition Protection (ATEX/IECEX) and Industrial Cyber Security (IEC 62443).
In the aspect of Functional Safety for Process Industry, TÜV Rheinland Singapore supports in SIS Gap Analysis, Functional Safety Auditing, Functional Safety Assessment, Functional Safety Training and others according to IEC 61511 and IEC 61508. It also occasionally offers free public knowledge sharing session.
TÜV Rheinland Singapore, with support of TÜV Rheinland Asia Pacific, International and Germany, also initialized and managed the first and the second International Safety Case Symposium (http://www.safetycasesymposium.com/ ) in 2018 and 2019, and the first International Safety Instrumented System Conference SIScon Online (https://siscon.online/) in 2020.
